'The Theme Park' (IT major assignment)

This project is about using the skills we have learned in this semester’s IT and applying it to the major assignment. The project consists of five different tasks; we had to create a poster, leaflet, website and presentation, as a way to promote our theme parks, accompanying with the compilation of our research on theme parks.

The IT major project was very tiring and complex assignment for me. I had a lot of issues with the project, especially with the time limit. Having to do five tasks in one assignment was really a big challenge for me due to having only 3 weeks to finish the entire project.

I ended up having to rush a lot of tasks because I didn’t plan my time correctly. I got way too engaged with the poster and focused too much on the presentation of the poster and also the layout of the website. I made a lot of edits to my poster which affected the final outcome of the piece. The image was slightly different than what I had imagined. My aim for the poster was to depict imaginations and dreams to gradually become reality. The book symbolises people’s adventure, stories and dreams and the picture that comes out of it was suppose to give the impression of people’s imagination forming into reality. My main goal is to create a theme park that gives a ‘dreamy’ feeling, thus the name formed to Utopia meaning dream world. I used complementary colours so that the image looks more appealing.

I didn’t want to put too much text into my poster since I wanted viewers to focus more on the picture. The main concern about my poster is that I think my poster is not obvious enough for it to be a promotional theme park poster.

For the website I experimented with designing a template and tried to apply typography-looked to my graphics. I wanted to do a couple more ‘working pages’ for my web but I ran out of time to accomplish it. The leaflet and presentation was a major disaster because I didn’t like the way it turned out in terms of the presentation.

From this project I learned new photoshop and dreamweaver skills. I learned to make good use of my plan and improved on my designing skills. Although I stressed my way through this project I didn’t really feel very accomplish and gave it my 100%
There was no doubt that this assignment was by far the hardest and stressing task that I have come across so far.

Xtranormal

Xtranormal is a website where you can animate characters. All you need to do is create an account and choose a base character then you can start to type and watch your characters come to life!

Our task were to create a video that involves in cyberbullying, uniform or any other related issues. I decided to choose cyberbullying as my main topic. Making the script for the character was a little bit difficult for me since I wanted to make it humorous and informative at the same time but I just didn't know how to create the script. I find that the graphics tends to be choppy and pixelated and the buffering time when you want to preview your work takes ages to load. Overall I like the character concept in Xtranormal especially with their monotone voices.

xD

Wiki & Web 2.0 tool presentation

Our task were to pick one application that is associated to multimedia based on web 2.0 applications and analyse the features and contents in that chosen application. We had to present our information by making our own wiki page and uploading our information on it. I chose to do the website deviantART since I had used the website before and I had few knowledge about it before hand which made the task easier for me.

All information of deviantART can be found in my wikispaces:

I find that wikispaces is a pretty good website where you can collaborate with members of your team especially when you are trying to deliver information and present it for the benefit of your project. It's pretty helpful because you are able to customize and edit your team member's work just by logging into wikispaces.

Web Design & Development

My top 3 favourite website:

1. DeviantART.com --> I like it because I can post my art in that website and look at other people arts, such as photography, digital art, traditional art and is a good website to find resources.

2. Livejournal.com --> It have the community that I like. It also have good resources and updates of some translations on interviews and scans.

3. Crunchyroll.com --> Good website to keep updates with the latest anime/manga and free watch.
It also have forums where users can post their thoughts and discuss in certain topics.

Least favourite website:
1. Wikipedia --> Unreliable source to get information. Can be very misleading. Users can easily change the information.

2. Ask.com --> I dislike the search engine, it can bring out unrelated information.

3. Brentwood homepage --> Log in problem sometimes occur.

City experience

A collage of my trips to the city. I know, I know it doesn't look much like a collage but I got to play around with the features in photoshop. I made this quite a while ago when my dad told me to make something out of photoshop using the pictures we took ._.
thought I'll share my memories with the class since these were some of my favourite pictures.
The blue looking glowing things is meant to be a UFO :D
(no I'm just joking it's actually a pretty cool looking jelly fish that we saw in Melbourne aquarium.)
and there was a spiral stairs that fascinated my dad to take a picture xDD

My Magazine cover

Phew I finally finished my magazine cover for the first IT project. ^^;
I did the magazine cover based on a japanese rockband, featuring the singer on the cover of the magazine. There is actually a magazine called Arena 37 C and since I liked the font and the name of the magazine I decided to take the title and put it as my magazine cover.

This task to me a very long time to finish since I didn't know what edits I should make with the person and also I took a very long time to find a right picture for my magazine layout.

First I removed all the red spheres that was interfering with the original stock image and put some textures on the background to 'spice up' the image. I find that his face is a little bit too yellow/orange so I decided to toned it down a bit. I also tried to remove his eye bags but it didn't look as good as the original so I decided to keep the eye bags.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome of my final product of the magazine cover.
Here is my magazine cover. (First image 'before', Second image 'after')

On a side note..
I got the texture and some custom fonts from here:

Blending practice

Just a task we did for IT.
Played around with blending techniques.
Used Kirsten Dunst as the stock photo and this is the result I came up with :)
